EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
To sit for the Exam: 120 semester hours and a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited business program, meeting specific accounting/business coursework requirements. For licensure: a bachelor's or higher degree totaling 150 semester hours.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1 year of public accounting experience, completed after satisfying the Exam's education requirements and within 5 years of applying for licensure — covering accounting, compilation, attest, financial advisory, management advisory, tax, or related consulting skills.
SEPARATE ETHICS EXAM REQUIRED?
Yes, a separate ethics exam/course is required.
CAN YOU SIT FOR THE EXAM BEFORE FINISHING ALL EDUCATION?
Yes — candidates can typically sit for the Exam before finishing all coursework required for full licensure (e.g. at 120 semester hours, finishing the rest before licensure).
